Ephesians 4:25 (NIV)
"Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body."
Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ."
These scriptures encourage us to speak the truth to everyone in our worlds β the truly greater, our peers and even the truly lesser. In previous articles,
we discussed how to speak the truth toward the truly greater and toward our peers. In this article, however, we will focus on how to speak the truth
towards the truly lesser.
To create an impression of greatness toward the lesser, some people project an attitude that suggests they were never at the level of the lesser before.
These individuals may present an impression in the minds of the lesser that they have never made mistakes or been prone to making mistakes and, thus, act
impatiently toward others when they make mistakes. But the truth of the matter is that the truly greater only became great because he or she has learned
directly or indirectly from past mistakes, and we all need to admit to this truth if we aspire to ascend to greater levels of mercies in our lives.
We need to frequently remind ourselves that prosperity, success or greatness is not innate to anyone. We all came into this planet as crying babies
desperately needing help for everything. We could not feed ourselves, talk, clothe our bodies or respond in a civilized manner to any call of nature.
We rode on the wings of others to attain our current height of greatness, and we need to let any truly lesser person who intends to learn from us
realize this. This is how to speak the truth toward the truly lesser.
