1 Peter 5:5 (NIV)
"…God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Following a demonstration of humility through submission and deference toward the truly greater, we stand eligible to believe that God will watch over
this promise of His word to fulflil it in our lives. Jeremiah 1:12 states that God watches over His Word to perform it, and we can trust God for a
manifestation of His grace, which is the favor of God that gives us access to the life of God to give us the spiritual energy (fuel) we need to obey Him.
The grace of God released through an exercise of deference and submission to the truly greater will give us access to the anointing on the truly greater
which will bring blessings and promotions to our lives. Psalm 133 states that the anointing flows from the head downwards to bring us the blessings of the
Lord, and several scriptures in the Book of Proverbs state that honor follows humility:
Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)
"Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor."
Proverbs 18:12 (NIV)
"Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor."
Proverbs 22:4 (NIV)
"Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life."
So when God gives us an opportunity to identify and submit to the judgment of a truly greater person through attitudes of honesty and humility, and we seize
these opportunities, we can trust that the rewards of these exercises will be made manifest in our lives. As highlighted in these scriptures in Proverbs, we
can trust God for honor. We can trust God for increase in our finances and in every area of our lives.
If we want to obtain that anointing by ourselves without deferring to the judgment of the truly greater, we would need an equivalent amount of time under the
same set of circumstances to practice obedience and inherit this crown of life. But, since God knows that this would be inefficient, He created a system of
submission through which we can become partakers of the same anointing on the truly greater, without going through their rigors. We need to be humble enough
to take advantage of this divine system.
There is a blessing in showing deference!
