Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV)
“This is what the Lord says…that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord”
You may be wondering why we placed this scripture at the beginning of an article that describes God’s plan for our health. Its relevance to God’s plan
for our health may not be readily apparent. However, when we realize that Jesus paid a price to purchase healing and health for humanity, then we will
appreciate the significance of Jeremiah 9:23-24.
Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 53:5 that the price needed to purchase our peace and healing is the punishment that Jesus bore on His body on the cross of
Calvary, and since Jesus has borne this punishment, the price to purchase our health and healing has been paid. Therefore, justice demands that we enjoy
the benefits this price brings. Our God loves justice and intends to see every human being, who accepts the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ, live in
health. Because of this, God indicates that He will not be satisfied until He sees the travail of his soul realized in our lives (Isaiah 53:11). God
is not satisfied with a little bit of sickness or disease. He wants us 100% healthy, and He is not pleased if we fall short of this standard.
If this is God’s plan for our health, then we must take sides with this plan as well. We cannot afford to be satisfied with a little bit of sickness or
disease. We must renew our minds to God’s plan and expect that nothing will be missing or broken in our lives. We must start thinking “big” in terms of
our healing and health. Hitherto, you might have settled for a little bit of stomach ache once in a while or a cyclical symptom that comes with the whim
of every season. It is about time you rise above all that and start believing God for 100% healing, health and wholeness.
In addition to the need to have the justice of our wholeness enforced in our lives, we need to realize that sickness is a distraction from God’s purpose.
When we are sick, we cannot fulfil the plan of God for our lives. Therefore, we must see sickness as an enemy which must be totally annihilated from our
lives. Because of this, the Son of God was made manifest that he might destroy all the works of the devil, which include sickness and diseases (1 John 3:8).
Jesus was opposed to sickness and disease during His earthly ministry, and we need to be just as opposed to anything short of health and wholeness as well.
