"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
We do not intend to describe the process of Christian sanctification in this article. However, we can leverage the detail in 1Thessalonians 5:23 to
identify the three components of our being: spirit, soul and body. You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a physical body, and you need to
attend to all these parts of your being so you can be kept blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus. The fact that we are all spirit beings can also
be understood by referring to a scripture in Genesis 1:27 which states that man was made in the image and the likeness of God. Also, John 4:24 indicates
that God is Spirit, and since we have been made in the likeness of God, then evidently we must be spirit beings ourselves. You are not your soul or your
body. You are a spirit being. You are the boss of that body. You are the boss of that soul (mind, will and emotions). But, what are the benefits associated
with realizing that we are spirit beings?
When you realize that you are a spirit, and not your body, you will be awakened to the fact that you can control the feelings of your body. Paul alludes
in 1 Corinthians 9:27 that he disciplines his body, which implies that he did not see himself as the body, rather he sees himself as a spirit being who
wears his body as a garment. When he saw himself this way, he could discipline his body. The carnal and the unbelieving, who are insensitive to spiritual
happenings around them, are ruled by the feelings of their bodies. They do not have the spiritual stamina to say “No” to the negative feelings of their bodies,
which the devil may want to use to steal, kill and destroy. Mankind has been stuck in this rut for centuries, but there is a group of people who have discovered
their spiritual status in Christ Jesus and have learned how to turn the tide against the enemy. We want to invite you to join this group of people.
If you have not done so in the past, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, get filled with His power and grow your Christian faith. You will be amazed at how your
spirit being will rise and soar above being ruled by the physical body. If you’d like to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior please say this prayer with a
sincere heart:
“Lord Jesus, I recognize that I have been a sinner, refusing to accept You as my Lord and Savior. I repent of this sin and confess You as my Lord, Master and
Boss. I believe that you were raised from the dead for my justification to connect me back to the Father God. I receive my forgiveness and my salvation by faith
right now. Thank You for saving me in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen”
